The Sokoto State Commissioner for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Hon. Sanusi Ibrahim Umar, has reaffirmed the commitment of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State to mobilising millions of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Umar, who spoke with journalists in Kaduna ahead of the formal flag-off of Tinubu’s re-election campaign scheduled for Saturday, expressed confidence in the arrangements put in place to ensure a smooth and successful event.
He said the Sokoto APC was determined to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation and political structures to secure widespread support for the President.
“We are determined to mobilise millions of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The APC in Sokoto State is committed to ensuring that the President receives massive support from our people,” Umar said.
The commissioner explained that the party would intensify engagement with supporters across communities, stressing that grassroots mobilisation would remain central to its electoral strategy.
“We will continue to strengthen our grassroots structures and engage with supporters across communities. Our objective is to ensure that the party’s message reaches the people and that our supporters remain committed to the President’s re-election bid,” he added.
On preparations for the Kaduna campaign flag-off, Umar expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, assuring that necessary measures had been taken to protect participants and ensure the orderly conduct of the event.
“We are confident that the necessary arrangements have been put in place for a successful campaign flag-off in Kaduna. We expect the event to proceed smoothly, with adequate attention given to the safety and welfare of all participants,” he said.
According to him, security agencies, medical personnel and emergency response teams had been mobilised to provide essential services throughout the gathering.
He noted that the presence of security operatives and medical teams would help maintain order and ensure that assistance was available whenever necessary.
Umar also disclosed that designated viewing centres were being established across Kaduna State to enable residents who could not attend the rally physically to follow the proceedings.
He identified Gamji Gate, Badonawa and other locations as areas where supporters would be able to watch the event through large screens and sound systems.
“The viewing centres will provide opportunities for residents who may not be able to attend the rally physically to follow the proceedings. This will allow more people to participate in the event,” he said.
He explained that the initiative would also provide alternative locations for supporters who might be unable to gain access to the main venue, helping to accommodate the anticipated turnout.
On security and emergency preparedness, the commissioner said adequate personnel had been deployed, while ambulances and medical teams would be available to attend to participants requiring medical attention.
“Our priority is to ensure that participants are safe and that anyone who requires medical attention receives prompt assistance. We believe these arrangements will contribute to a successful and hitch-free event,” Umar added.
His remarks come as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement expected to play significant roles in their campaigns.
The Kaduna campaign flag-off is expected to bring together APC governors, party leaders, elected officials and supporters to formally commence mobilisation for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
For the Sokoto APC, Umar’s declaration underscores the party’s stated intention to contribute significantly to the President’s re-election campaign through coordinated political mobilisation and increased grassroots participation.
