The Deputy Director of the Presidential Governorship Campaign Council (PGCC), Health and Safety, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhter, has disclosed that her team has arrived in Kaduna State with medical personnel, drugs and essential medical equipment ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off.
Dr. Mukhter disclosed this while speaking with journalists during an inspection of preparations for the campaign event scheduled to feature President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She explained that the inspection was aimed at ensuring that the necessary arrangements, including the designated area for the President, exit routes and other facilities, were properly put in place ahead of the event.
“We are here to supervise and inspect the venue to see how the arrangements have been made. We are checking the systems, the designated area for the President, the exit routes and everything necessary for the event,” she said.
The official expressed satisfaction with the preparations observed during the inspection, noting that the exercise was part of efforts to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated programme.
On the health and safety arrangements, Dr. Mukhter said the medical team had come from Kano State with essential medicines and supplies to attend to possible medical emergencies during the campaign.
She listed some of the supplies as painkillers, antacids, antiemetics for vomiting, medicines for diarrhoea and malaria, as well as wound-dressing materials, suturing equipment and other first-aid items.
According to her, the team arrived with two vehicles carrying medical supplies and equipment, alongside medical kits for use in providing assistance to participants who might require healthcare services during the gathering.
“We have come with our medical supplies and equipment because we understand that a gathering of this magnitude may require immediate medical attention for some participants,” she explained.
Dr. Mukhter noted that large public gatherings could present situations in which participants might suddenly become ill or sustain injuries, making it necessary to have medical personnel and essential supplies readily available.
She said the team was prepared to provide medical assistance to members of the public who might need attention during the event.
“We have brought different medicines and medical kits to ensure that we can attend to people who may need medical assistance. We have also made provisions for wound dressing and other basic medical procedures,” she said.
The deputy director added that the team’s deployment was part of the preparations to support health and safety services at the campaign flag-off, which is expected to attract a large crowd.
She expressed hope that the event would proceed peacefully and successfully, with adequate attention given to the well-being of participants.
The preparations highlight the importance of medical readiness at large political gatherings, where prompt access to healthcare services can help address emergencies and protect participants.
