The Kwali Area Council has conducted a screening exercise for applicants seeking scholarship opportunities at Cyprus University as part of efforts to ensure a transparent selection process and identify qualified candidates.
The exercise, held on Tuesday in Kwali, was aimed at assessing applicants’ eligibility and ensuring that deserving candidates are considered for the scholarship programme.
According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Rilwan Makka, the screening followed a meeting held on Monday at the office of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Daniel Kwali, who received the African representative of Cyprus University and his team.

The statement said the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to harmonise arrangements and put the necessary measures in place to ensure a smooth and successful screening exercise.
Those present at Tuesday’s screening included the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Mr. Friday Elaigwu; the Senior Special Assistant on Education, Mallam Umar Usman; and other members of the Council’s cabinet.
The statement added that further information on the next stage of the selection process would be communicated to successful candidates, while relevant updates would be made available to the general public as appropriate.
It noted that the initiative reflected the Council’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting eligible students in their pursuit of higher education.
