Hon. Beni Lar, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency of Plateau State, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, insisting that his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, women’s empowerment and economic development distinguish it from previous governments.
Lar stated this while speaking with journalists shortly before the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Abuja on Wednesday, where she described the accreditation exercise as smooth and transparent, noting the participation of Nigerians from different walks of life.
The APC candidate, who was part of the Plateau State delegation at the inauguration held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was inaugurated as Deputy Coordinator, Parliamentary Mobilisation I, North Central, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
She said the inauguration provided an opportunity for party members to strengthen the APC’s campaign machinery, deepen cooperation among leaders and reaffirm their collective commitment to securing victory for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the accreditation exercise ahead of the inauguration, Lar said the process had been smooth and transparent, adding that she had completed her accreditation as a candidate and was awaiting a second identification tag in her capacity as Deputy Coordinator of Parliamentary Mobilisation in the campaign structure.
“The process has been smooth, and the process has been transparent. There is civic participation, and you can see Nigerians from all walks of life,” she said.
Assessing the performance of the Tinubu administration, Lar maintained that the President’s record in infrastructure development and economic reforms would remain a major selling point for the APC as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
“I think President Tinubu’s scorecard is not in doubt. His scorecard has been repeated time and over again. I have said it many times that no president has matched his record,” she said.
She cited major road projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other road infrastructure projects across the country, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving transportation networks and connectivity.
According to her, ongoing and completed road projects across several states demonstrate the government’s determination to address infrastructure deficits and improve economic activities.
Lar also highlighted the government’s student loan initiative, saying it had created additional opportunities for Nigerians seeking access to higher education.
She further commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her contributions to women’s empowerment through programmes aimed at supporting women and improving their economic prospects.
The APC candidate disclosed that plans were underway to empower another 5,000 women in Edo State, describing such initiatives as complementary to the Federal Government’s broader development agenda.
On economic diversification, Lar pointed to developments in the solid minerals sector, arguing that increased attention to the industry and efforts to attract investment reflected the administration’s determination to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on crude oil.
She also referenced prospective investments from the United States, which she said reflected international interest in Nigeria’s economic potential and natural resources.
Lar maintained that the administration’s policies were designed to unlock the country’s economic opportunities and ensure that the benefits of development reach ordinary Nigerians.
“Give him four more years, every Nigerian will thank him,” she said, expressing optimism that a second term would enable Tinubu to consolidate his policies and expand ongoing development programmes.
Beyond the presidential campaign, Lar also spoke about legislative representation and her ambition to return to the National Assembly, emphasising the importance of experience and continuity in legislative responsibilities.
She argued that frequent turnover among lawmakers could affect legislative effectiveness, particularly when newly elected members have limited opportunities to acquire the institutional knowledge required to navigate parliamentary procedures and responsibilities.
According to her, legislative experience is essential for effective lawmaking, oversight functions and the representation of constituents’ interests.
Lar observed that political considerations, including ethnic sentiments and demands for rotational representation, sometimes influence electoral decisions, even when continuity could contribute to stronger legislative performance.
She cited the ranking system in legislative institutions, including the United States Congress, as an example of how experience can contribute to institutional effectiveness.
The APC candidate also referred to changes in the Senate’s rules governing the emergence of principal officers, arguing that the requirements underscore the importance of legislative experience in leadership positions.
She maintained that lawmakers who spend more time in the legislature have greater opportunities to acquire institutional knowledge, understand parliamentary procedures and contribute meaningfully to legislative business.
Reflecting on her participation in the Presidential Campaign Council’s inauguration, Lar said the event had reinforced the importance of sustained engagement and cooperation among APC leaders as the party prepares for the next general elections.
She expressed optimism that the inauguration would strengthen the party’s organisational structure and improve coordination among stakeholders across the country.
Lar reiterated her confidence in the Tinubu administration, maintaining that its record and ongoing development initiatives would give the APC a strong platform to seek another mandate from Nigerians in 2027.
