…First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to Headline Mega Rally in Lafia
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to hold a mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The rally, described by the party as the “mother of all rallies,” will be hosted by Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expected to headline the event.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting of North Central APC stakeholders held in Abuja on Thursday, October 8, 2026, under the chairmanship of the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; governors and deputy governors from the region; ministers; members of the National Assembly; and other political officeholders.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Yilwatda expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State and those who lost their lives in a mining-related tragedy in Niger State.
He described the incidents as painful losses and sympathised with the bereaved families and affected communities.
On the outcome of the meeting, the APC national chairman said political leaders and stakeholders across the North Central region had agreed to mobilise their political structures and supporters for the Lafia rally.
He explained that the gathering would demonstrate the region’s collective support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the stakeholders were committed to coordinating their mobilisation efforts and strengthening grassroots engagement to ensure a strong turnout at the rally.
The meeting also acknowledged Senator Akume’s leadership in bringing together APC stakeholders from across the North Central region and commended Governor Sule for agreeing to host the rally in Nasarawa State.
Participants welcomed the planned participation of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and reviewed arrangements for the involvement of party leaders, women, youth groups, grassroots organisations and supporters from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The stakeholders concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to the successful hosting of the Lafia rally and their support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in 2027.
The rally is expected to serve as a major platform for the APC to demonstrate its political strength and grassroots mobilisation capacity in the North Central region ahead of the next general elections.
