Nasarawa State has been described as a leading example of progressive governance and political unity in the North Central region, with the Chairperson of the Nasarawa State Commissioners Forum and Commissioner for Environment, Solid Minerals and Mining, Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo, expressing confidence in the state’s continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Elayo made this known on Saturday during the North Central APC mega rally held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, where party leaders, governors, elected officials and supporters from across the region gathered to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commissioner described Nasarawa as the laboratory of the ruling APC in the North Central, noting that the state had continued to demonstrate commitment to the party’s ideals, progressive governance and political stability since the APC came into existence.
According to her, Nasarawa’s record of party loyalty and grassroots mobilisation has continued to distinguish the state within the region, expressing optimism that the commitment would be sustained as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
Lafia witnessed a massive influx of APC supporters from Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Niger and Kwara states, as the six states joined forces to demonstrate their support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his re-election bid.
The rally, which attracted the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also witnessed the presence of APC governors, members of the National and State Assemblies, ministers, party leaders, political stakeholders and supporters from different parts of the North Central region.
Elayo commended the First Lady for her motherly disposition, commitment to women’s empowerment and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing her presence at the rally as a source of encouragement to women and other party faithful across the region.
She said women in Nasarawa State and the North Central region were being mobilised to participate actively in the political process and support the APC’s re-election project ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commissioner further emphasised the importance of sustained unity among party leaders, stakeholders and grassroots supporters, noting that collective commitment would be essential to consolidating the APC’s political strength in the region.
The Lafia rally underscored the determination of APC stakeholders across the North Central to strengthen party cohesion, expand grassroots mobilisation and build support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
