The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, OON, as the National Youth Ambassador of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was formally conferred on Agboola on Monday, September 7, 2026, when he led a delegation to the Force Headquarters in Abuja to meet with the Inspector-General of Police.
According to a press statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the appointment was made under the International Youth Day 2026 – National Youth Security, Peacebuilding and Empowerment Initiative.
The Nigeria Police Force said the recognition was informed by Agboola’s record in technology entrepreneurship and his role in developing Flutterwave into a major African fintech company, with particular emphasis on innovation, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship.
The Force explained that the youth initiative seeks to deploy the influence of credible young leaders and role models in promoting peace, responsible citizenship, cybersecurity awareness and legitimate economic opportunities.
The programme is also expected to encourage young Nigerians to shun cybercrime and other forms of social vices by exposing them to constructive alternatives through education, technology, entrepreneurship and lawful enterprise.
IGP Disu, according to the statement, said the appointment was part of efforts by the Police to deepen engagement with young Nigerians and make them active partners in the campaign for safer communities.
The Inspector-General further stressed the importance of equipping young police officers with the knowledge and technological skills required to confront emerging forms of crime.
He noted that improved expertise in digital technology, cyber-related investigations and other modern policing tools would strengthen the ability of the Force to track digital evidence, investigate cybercrime and respond to crimes facilitated by technology.
The IGP charged Agboola to deploy his experience, platform and influence toward inspiring young Nigerians to pursue legitimate opportunities, uphold integrity and use innovation as a tool for personal and national development.
Responding, Agboola thanked the Inspector-General for the confidence placed in him and pledged his support for the objectives of the initiative, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, entrepreneurship and peaceful civic participation.
