The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has charged Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of federal parastatals to take the message and impact of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope reforms to Nigerians at the grassroots.
Akume gave the charge on Friday, September 25, 2026, in Abuja, while receiving a delegation of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals led by its Convener and Chairman, Dr. Kazeem Kolawale Raji, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, the SGF said effective grassroots communication was necessary to address what he described as disinformation surrounding the Federal Government’s economic reforms.
He said the CEOs should use their respective institutions and professional networks to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed about government policies, reforms and their implementation.
“In your various domains where your power is operative, ensure that people become aware of these achievements. Push this message down to the grassroots, because one thing I’ve observed in the policy right now is a lot of disinformation.
“This reform policy is not meant to imprison or impoverish Nigerians, and that is the narrative that has been spread down to the grassroots. Push this message to help promote the image of this administration,” Akume said.
The SGF commended members of the Forum for organising themselves into a cohesive body and for their stated commitment to promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through their respective agencies.
He also assured the Forum of the continued support of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), saying the office would provide the necessary institutional backing to support its activities and strategic objectives.
Akume further urged the leadership of the Forum to maintain momentum and establish a structured framework for sustained collaboration with the OSGF.
He stressed the need for purposeful communication between the Forum and the OSGF to enable proper tracking, documentation and coordination of its objectives and initiatives.
Earlier, Raji conferred on the SGF the position of Grand Patron of the Forum in recognition of what he described as his leadership, institutional stewardship and role in coordinating the machinery of government.
Raji said the Forum was working towards mobilising 10 million votes for President Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general election. He said the objective would be pursued through what he described as lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based grassroots engagement, leveraging professional and community networks associated with federal agencies across the country.
The Forum chairman also said one of its major objectives was to bridge the communication gap between government and the public by ensuring that government policies, reforms, achievements and measurable outcomes were properly documented and communicated to Nigerians.
According to him, such communication must be based on facts and accurately reflect the activities and outcomes of the administration.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Chidiebere John Ezeamama, urged the Forum to establish an effective work-related communication network with the OSGF.
Ezeamama said such a mechanism would enable the Forum to communicate its activities and achievements to the OSGF in real time for proper documentation and institutional coordination.
He also called for the creation of a centralised digital platform to facilitate real-time information sharing, coordinate inter-agency participation and track developmental milestones achieved by the various federal parastatals.
The meeting was part of efforts by the Forum and the OSGF to strengthen institutional collaboration and improve communication on government programmes and reforms across the country.
