The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the development and transformation of the North Central region as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
According to a statement by the Head of Media and Corporate Communications of the Commission, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NCDC, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, conveyed the anniversary message on behalf of the Governing Board, Management and Staff of the Commission.
Tsenyil congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians across the country, describing the 66th Independence Anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s journey, consolidate its achievements and renew the collective commitment to building a more prosperous future.
He paid tribute to the nation’s founding fathers and past leaders who made sacrifices and contributed in various capacities to the unity, peace and development of Nigeria despite the challenges the country encountered at different periods.
The NCDC chief expressed confidence in the resilience, faith and determination of Nigerians to overcome existing challenges, saying the collective efforts and aspirations of citizens would continue to drive the country towards greater development and prosperity.
He also said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, particularly the establishment of Regional Development Commissions such as the NCDC, would accelerate development through a more coordinated and regionally responsive approach.
According to him, the NCDC remains committed to transforming the North Central region by unlocking its vast potential in agriculture, education, industrialisation, mineral development, economic integration, youth development and entrepreneurship, among other critical sectors.
Tsenyil urged citizens and stakeholders across the region to actively participate in the implementation of the Commission’s 20-Year Strategic Development Plan, which was recently unveiled at the inaugural NCDC Stakeholders Development Summit in Abuja and received broad endorsement from stakeholders within and outside the region.
He said the strategic plan provides a framework for sustainable economic, infrastructural and social transformation of the North Central region, stressing that its successful implementation would require the collective commitment of governments, the private sector, development partners, traditional institutions, communities and other stakeholders.
The NCDC chief wished Nigerians, particularly residents of the North Central region, a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary and prayed for greater peace, unity, security and prosperity for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
