The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has intensified consultations with key stakeholders in a renewed effort to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and facilitate the return of normal academic activities.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, spearheaded the latest initiative by convening a high-level stakeholders’ meeting on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Council Chamber of the institution.
The meeting brought together the leadership of ASUU, including both former and serving officials of the union, alongside other stakeholders considered relevant to finding a workable solution to the dispute.
The engagement provided an opportunity for participants to openly deliberate on the issues responsible for the strike, with discussions focused on identifying practical steps capable of resolving the disagreements and restoring academic activities at the university.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Liman reaffirmed the commitment of the university administration to dialogue, mutual understanding and peaceful engagement as the preferred approach to resolving the impasse.
She stressed that finding a solution to the dispute was a collective responsibility, urging all parties to remain committed to constructive engagement in the interest of the institution and its wider community.
The Vice-Chancellor particularly expressed concern over the effect of the prolonged disruption on students, noting that their academic progress remained a major consideration in the efforts to end the industrial action.
During the meeting, stakeholders reviewed the circumstances surrounding the dispute and considered possible pathways towards a resolution. Participants also agreed on the importance of sustaining discussions and adopting approaches that could produce a lasting settlement.
The engagement concluded with a positive outlook, as the stakeholders expressed their willingness to continue consultations and explore more workable options for resolving the impasse as soon as possible.
The development underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining industrial harmony, promoting staff welfare and safeguarding the academic interests of students while advancing the overall development of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The university management said it remains determined to pursue a peaceful and sustainable resolution that would pave the way for the full resumption of academic activities.
