Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state as he received the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 10 Division of the Nigerian Army, on a courtesy visit at the T.Y. Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Governor Kefas described security as the foundation for peace, sustainable development and economic prosperity, stressing the importance of a strong partnership between the Taraba State Government and the Nigerian Army in safeguarding lives and property.
The Governor said his administration would continue to provide the necessary support to enable the newly established 10 Division to effectively discharge its responsibilities in Taraba State and the wider North-East region.
As part of the state government’s support, Governor Kefas has provided temporary accommodation for personnel of the Division pending the completion of its permanent barracks currently under construction on the outskirts of Jalingo.
He said the temporary arrangement was aimed at ensuring that the Division commenced and sustained effective operations while work continues on its permanent facilities.
The Governor assured the Nigerian Army of the state government’s continued cooperation, noting that a secure environment was essential to attracting investment, promoting economic growth and accelerating development across Taraba.
He further expressed confidence that the establishment of the 10 Division would significantly strengthen the state’s security architecture and enhance the capacity of security agencies to respond swiftly and effectively to emerging security challenges.
The meeting underscored the growing collaboration between the Taraba State Government and the Nigerian Army, with both sides committed to deepening cooperation in the collective effort to maintain peace and protect communities across the state and the wider North-East.
