The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State Chapter, and Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government Area, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu, has urged Nigerians to vote wisely in the 2027 general elections, saying voters should assess the achievements of the current administration before making their choices.
Sa’adatu made the call while speaking with journalists at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja.
She described the occasion as a significant moment for the APC family as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Expressing gratitude to God for the occasion, the Kano ALGON chairperson encouraged Nigerians to look beyond the challenges facing the country and consider what she described as the positive developments being pursued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
According to her, some individuals were working to undermine the government, urging Nigerians not to allow such activities to overshadow their assessment of the administration’s performance.
“We know what is happening in the country. There are many saboteurs and many things happening to sabotage the government. We should not focus only on the bad side or on those bringing negative things to the government. We should look at the good things and the development the government is bringing to the nation,” she said.
She maintained that Nigerians should make informed decisions at the polls, stressing that voters needed to understand the direction of the country and evaluate the government’s actions before deciding which party to support.
Asked why Nigerians should support the APC rather than the opposition, Sa’adatu reiterated her confidence in the ruling party, insisting that citizens who understood the government’s activities would be better positioned to make their electoral choices.
She further called on Nigerians to approach the 2027 elections with a sense of responsibility, emphasising the importance of voting based on their assessment of the country’s development and governance.
Sa’adatu also highlighted the significance of women’s participation in leadership, declaring that women were capable of performing effectively in positions traditionally dominated by men.
“What a man can do, a woman can do better,” she said.
The inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council marks a step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with party leaders and supporters expected to mobilise across the country ahead of the polls.
