The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has unveiled its manifesto ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the Edo State Chairman of the party, Comrade Imonikhe Kelly Roland-Bello, expressing confidence that the party is fully prepared to challenge the ruling party and provide Nigerians with a new direction.
Roland-Bello, who spoke during the unveiling of the party’s manifesto at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, said the blueprint presented by the party’s presidential candidate, Prince Adewale Adebayo, offers a better alternative to the policies and programmes of the incumbent administration.
According to him, the manifesto represents a major milestone for the SDP and demonstrates the party’s readiness to participate effectively in the 2027 general elections.
He said, “It is actually very open, and you will see that the blueprint of our presidential candidate will outshine that of the current incumbent of the ruling party.”
The Edo State SDP chairman expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections, stressing that the SDP had established itself as a political force capable of offering Nigerians a credible alternative.
“This shows a great milestone that the SDP is ready to take on the 2027 general election. We have no challenges. We will prevail. We will win this election. We have come to stay,” he said.
Roland-Bello further described Prince Adewale Adebayo as a candidate capable of addressing the economic and social challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians, particularly unemployment and poverty.
He urged Nigerians, especially young people, to rally behind the SDP presidential candidate, saying an Adebayo-led administration would prioritise job creation, poverty reduction and improved opportunities for citizens.
“I want to tell Nigerians that they should come out in their numbers and support Prince Adewale Adebayo. This is the man that will bring solutions to the people, address our problems, create jobs for the youths and work towards ending poverty,” he stated.
The Edo chairman also referenced the message of “farewell to poverty” associated with the manifesto unveiling, describing it as a commitment to building an economy where Nigerians can enjoy greater opportunities and improved living conditions.
He called on Nigerians to embrace what he described as a “new direction,” saying the SDP’s vision was centred on participatory democracy, inclusiveness and a Nigeria where every citizen would have a sense of belonging.
“We are in a new direction, and that new direction has started. We want a Nigeria that is free for all of us, where every Nigerian can participate fully in our democracy,” Roland-Bello added.
He maintained that the SDP was determined to give Nigerians an alternative political platform in 2027, urging citizens not to see the election merely as a contest between political parties but as an opportunity to decide the kind of leadership and future they want for the country.
The manifesto unveiling brought together party leaders, members, supporters and stakeholders as the SDP formally presented its policy direction and vision ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Roland-Bello reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising support for the SDP in Edo State and across the country, expressing confidence that Nigerians would respond positively to the party’s message of a new direction.
