ABUJA — The Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources in Nasarawa State, Princess Dr. Margaret Itake Elayo, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Humanitarian Hardworking Woman of the Year Award for her contributions to humanitarian service and public development.
The award was presented to Elayo in Abuja by the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development as part of activities marking her forthcoming birthday celebration scheduled for next week.
The recognition adds to the public service profile of the Nasarawa State Commissioner, who has continued to champion initiatives focused on improving the welfare and wellbeing of citizens.
Reacting to the honour, Elayo expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a humbling gesture and a renewed encouragement to remain committed to serving humanity.
She dedicated the award to the people of Nasarawa State, saying their support and goodwill remained a major source of motivation in her service.

Elayo also dedicated the honour to her principal, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for providing her with the platform to contribute meaningfully to humanitarian service and public development.
She expressed gratitude to the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development for recognising her efforts, stressing that the award would further inspire her to continue working for the good of the people.
Before her current assignment as Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Elayo served as Commissioner for Humanitarian, Special Duties, NGOs and Diaspora Representative in the Nasarawa State Government, where she was involved in humanitarian and social intervention activities.
The latest honour comes as she prepares to mark her birthday next week, with the award serving as a recognition of her record of service and commitment to humanitarian causes.
