The Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has called on staff of the Commission to strengthen service delivery by embracing greater efficiency, professionalism, accountability and responsiveness in the discharge of their duties.
Eyesan made the call during a conference organised by the Commission to mark the 2026 Customer Service Week, with the theme, “Going the Extra Mile.”
Represented by the Director of Host Community, Mrs. Ejioro Ufondu, the NUPRC chief executive described the theme as a timely reminder of the need for staff to go beyond routine responsibilities and deliver services that create meaningful value for stakeholders.
She explained that going the extra mile was not merely about doing more work but also about improving the quality of service, responding promptly to requests, taking responsibility and ensuring that stakeholders have a positive experience when dealing with the Commission.
“Going the extra mile is not simply about doing more; it is about doing better, responding faster, taking ownership, and making a meaningful difference in the experience of those we serve. We take regulating the industry as a service,” she said.
According to her, the Customer Service Week provides an opportunity for the Commission to renew its commitment to the core values of service excellence, professionalism, responsiveness, ownership and integrity.
Eyesan noted that the NUPRC serves a broad range of stakeholders, including oil and gas operators, host communities, government institutions, service providers, Nigerians and participants in the global upstream petroleum industry.
She stressed that meeting the expectations of these groups requires a service-oriented approach that promotes transparency, efficiency and accountability across the Commission’s operations.
The NUPRC chief executive further explained that the Commission’s responsibilities extend beyond processing applications and granting regulatory approvals, noting that its role also involves creating a predictable and transparent regulatory environment that supports sustainable investment in the upstream petroleum sector.
She emphasised the importance of ensuring that the Commission’s regulatory processes remain efficient, consistent and responsive to the needs of stakeholders while advancing the sustainable development of Nigeria’s petroleum resources.
In her goodwill message, the Head of Administration and Acting National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Helen Lawal, commended the NUPRC for prioritising customer satisfaction and promoting improved service delivery.
Lawal urged the Commission to sustain its commitment to quality service by continually reviewing and improving its operations in accordance with the provisions of the SERVICOM Charter.
She noted the importance of maintaining service standards that place stakeholders’ needs at the centre of institutional responsibilities.
The conference was attended by the Head of SERVICOM at the NUPRC, Mrs. Muinat Bello; SERVICOM officers in the Commission; representatives of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN); directors; and other staff members.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on the importance of customer-focused service, institutional accountability and continuous improvement in the discharge of the Commission’s regulatory responsibilities.
