Nascar away State is set to take another major step toward strengthening environmental resilience and sustainable land management with the commissioning of heavy-duty machinery and equipment procured under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project.
The commissioning ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Works and Housing, New Secretariat Complex, Shendam Road, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The event will have the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, as Special Guest of Honour, highlighting the administration’s continued support for initiatives aimed at tackling environmental degradation, improving climate resilience and strengthening sustainable development across the State.
The intervention comes as Nasarawa continues to witness transformative activities under ACReSAL, with projects focused on restoring degraded landscapes, improving agricultural productivity, strengthening community resilience and enhancing livelihoods in vulnerable communities.
Providing strategic leadership for the State’s environmental sustainability agenda is the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Princess Magrate Itake Elayo, whose commitment to environmental protection and community development has continued to support the implementation of ACReSAL interventions across the State.
Working alongside the Commissioner is the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Elias Gyobe Napoleon, whose coordination and commitment have contributed to translating the objectives of the ACReSAL Project into practical interventions with visible benefits in beneficiary communities.
The newly acquired heavy-duty machinery is expected to further strengthen the State’s capacity to implement environmental restoration activities, land reclamation, erosion control and other interventions aimed at building resilient landscapes and communities.
The commissioning therefore represents not only the deployment of new equipment, but also a renewed commitment to sustainable environmental management and the protection of communities against the effects of climate change and land degradation.
The Nasarawa State ACReSAL Project has called on stakeholders, government officials, traditional leaders, community representatives, development partners and other members of the public to join the State in witnessing the commissioning ceremony.
The event is expected to showcase the progress being made through collaborative efforts between the Nasarawa State Government, ACReSAL and beneficiary communities toward building a greener, healthier and more resilient Nasarawa State.
With the theme, “ACReSAL: Greening Environment, Saving Lives,” the initiative underscores the shared responsibility of government and communities in protecting the environment while creating sustainable opportunities for present and future generations.
