There is a new energy blowing across Benue South Senatorial District. It is not the usual political wind that comes and goes every four years. It is a movement. It is the Labour Party family in Enone and Zone C, reorganised, reinvigorated and ready to take over.
And leading that charge is Prince Odoh Onuh, the “Obilekpa” of Enone, the Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party.
In recent weeks, Prince Odoh Onuh embarked on an extensive tour of council wards across the nine local government areas of Benue South — Ado, Agatu, Apa, Obi, Ogbadibo, Ohimini, Oju, Okpokwu and Otukpo — to herald a new dawn.
What he met was beyond politics; it was a carnival of hope. In Igumale, youths trekked from Ulayi to welcome him. In Okpoga, market women left their wares to sing and dance for the Obilekpa. In Otukpo, elders prayed for him and blessed him. In Oju and Obi, the reception was electrifying. The people received him with joy, not because he shared money, but because he shared a vision.
His candidacy appeals to the youth population of Benue South, who are yearning for a paradigm shift. Zone C is tired of recycled leadership and gerontocratic politics. The youths want a voice that is young, vibrant and courageous.
Prince Odoh Onuh represents that shift — educated, humble, grassroots-connected and bold enough to challenge the old order. He speaks the language of jobs, the digital economy, mechanised agriculture and quality representation, not stomach infrastructure. That is why, according to his supporters, the youth are rallying behind the Obilekpa.
While the Labour Party builds momentum for the Senate, real representation is already being felt at the House of Representatives level in Enone through Chief Dr. Philip Agbese, Member representing Ado, Okpokwu and Ogbadibo Federal Constituency.
In his unique strategic planning, Chief Agbese has made rural farmers in Enone directly feel the impact of what his supporters describe as true representation by distributing thousands of tonnes of fertiliser for free to the people.
At a time when a bag of fertiliser sells for over N65,000 to N75,000 and farmers are abandoning their farms, Agbese took a bold step. He procured trailer loads of NPK and Urea and distributed them free to genuine farmers across Enone.
From Agila to Igumale, to Okpoga, to Orokam, to Owukpa and to Otukpa, the fertiliser reached the real farmers in the villages, not political farmers in Makurdi.
Thousands of rural farmers, women and youths who had never benefited from any government input before got fertiliser directly from their representative. This is not just empowerment, but food security for Enone and Benue State, according to the supporters of the initiative.
In his usual humanist nature, Chief Agbese has maintained that the gesture should not be seen as a campaign prop, but as a duty he was elected to perform on behalf of the people.
For him, representation is not about making noise in Abuja; it is about touching lives at home. He has always said: “I was not elected to go and sleep in Abuja. I was elected to bring Abuja to Enone.”
The bickering over the Enone seat in the National Assembly, the petitions, the propaganda and the political jobbers trying to distract the collective submission have not in any way deterred the Enone Labour Party family, which is set to provide what its members describe as quality representation for Enone and the people of Zone C in 2027 and beyond.
The LP family is focused. The mission is clear: rescue Zone C and give Enone quality representation that is visible, vocal and valuable.
To the people of Enone and Zone C, the message is clear: Do not elect seasonal philanthropists who only appear during political seasons to take advantage of the people. Do not fall for those who come with rice at Christmas and disappear after elections. Leadership is not seasonal; it is consistent.
Hon. Chief Philip Agbese is tested and has, according to his supporters, proven that he has the capacity to lead from the front and not from the rear. He leads from the farm, from the classroom and from the health centre, not from Facebook.
With Prince Odoh Onuh’s Obilekpa movement energising the youth and Chief Agbese showing what his supporters describe as true representation, the Labour Party family in Enone is set for 2027, ready to provide quality representation for Enone and for the entire Zone C.
