The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has commenced the remodelling and renovation of an office facility donated by the Nasarawa State Government to expand workspace and improve the working environment at the Commission’s headquarters in Lafia.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, disclosed this on Wednesday while formally handing over the facility to the contractor, Messrs Geodata Construction Nigeria Ltd., following an inspection of the building with the Executive Director, Projects, Princess Atika Ajanah.
Dr. Tsenyil described the project as an important step towards strengthening the Commission’s operational capacity, stressing that adequate office accommodation was necessary for staff to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
He urged the contractor to adhere strictly to the approved specifications, contractual terms and quality standards, while ensuring that the project was completed within the agreed timeframe.
The NCDC chief executive also expressed appreciation to the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, for the state government’s continued support to the Commission.
He specifically commended Governor Sule for donating the facility to the NCDC, noting that the state had also renovated another building currently being used by the Commission for its operations.
According to Dr. Tsenyil, the Commission has, since its establishment, focused on laying the necessary foundations for its activities through extensive consultations and engagements with stakeholders across the North Central region.
He said the consultations were designed to secure broad stakeholder participation and incorporate relevant inputs into a comprehensive development blueprint for the region.
Dr. Tsenyil added that the engagements would lead to the maiden North Central Development Summit, scheduled for Abuja on September 14 and 15, 2026.
He explained that the summit would provide a strategic platform for charting a coordinated and sustainable development path for the North Central region.
Also speaking, the Executive Director, Projects, Princess Atika Ajanah, said the remodelling would transform the facility into a major administrative hub for the Commission.
She explained that the building would accommodate all five directorates of the NCDC and provide office facilities for more than 100 members of staff.
Princess Ajanah further disclosed that the Commission’s main reception would be relocated to the remodelled facility, while a new entrance gate would also be constructed to enhance access to the headquarters complex.
She assured that the Projects Directorate would maintain close supervision of the construction work to ensure that every aspect of the project complied with the approved specifications and required quality standards.
According to her, the project is expected to be completed within 15 to 16 weeks, adding that the upgraded facility would significantly enhance the Commission’s working environment and improve its overall operational effectiveness.
The representative of Geodata Construction Nigeria Ltd., Engr. Jim Jibril, assured the NCDC management that the company would execute the project professionally and deliver it in line with the approved specifications, contractual requirements and industry standards.
He pledged the company’s commitment to completing the assignment within the stipulated period while ensuring that the facility meets the expected quality.
