The Nigeria Police Force, through operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS), has arrested five suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a mobile phone and accessories dealer in Ogun State.
According to a press statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, on Saturday 29th August, 2026 said the arrest followed a petition addressed to the Inspector-General of Police by Sanniphil Company over a violent robbery incident involving its consignment of mobile phones and accessories.
CSP Iniedu stated that, acting on the petition, STS operatives commenced a discreet investigation on 10th August 2026, which led to the arrest of the suspects in Ogun State.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on 5th August 2026, at about 1900hrs, the suspects attacked a company vehicle conveying phones and accessories valued at about One Hundred Million Naira (₦100,000,000.00) from Lagos to Onitsha and carted away the items.
The suspects are Okori Joyus, male, 23 years; Yetunde Lasisi, male, 53 years; Usen Samuel, male, 20 years; Usen Wisdom, male, 25 years; and Quadri Oluwadare, male, 56 years.
According to the statement, a total of 81 brand-new smart mobile phones and 196 chargers were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
The Force Public Relations Officer said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover the remaining stolen property.
The Nigeria Police Force, CSP Iniedu stated, reiterates its commitment to protecting businesses and citizens from violent crime across the country.
