The revised All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list has reportedly featured prominent political figures, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; Minister of Works David Umahi; and former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo, as the ruling party prepares its political machinery for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid in 2027.
According to a list sighted by Oxford Reporters, the revised composition is aimed at rebranding the campaign council, accommodating new party loyalists across the states and strengthening its mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The changes are expected to broaden the council’s political reach by bringing together serving government officials, party stalwarts, lawmakers, business figures, sports personalities and other influential stakeholders under a coordinated campaign structure.
Under the reported arrangement, Wike has been assigned responsibility for coordinating Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT, while Adeleke has been named Osun State Campaign Coordinator. Former Super Eagles captain Yobo has also been appointed Deputy Director for Sports Sector Mobilisation, highlighting the inclusion of personalities from outside conventional political structures.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari will retain his position as Director-General of the campaign council, while Senator Adams Oshiomhole will serve as Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation. Femi Gbajabiamila has been designated Deputy Director-General for Administration.
Minister of Works David Umahi has been assigned the role of Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been listed as Director of Finance and Treasurer.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun will serve as Director of Fundraising, with Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, named as his deputy.
Other notable appointments include Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu as Deputy Director-General for the South-East, while Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule has been named South-South Deputy Coordinator for State Assemblies Mobilisation.
Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has been listed as Director of Stakeholder Mobilisation, while former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola will serve as South-West Zonal Coordinator for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation.
The revised communications structure features Minister of Information and National Orientation Festus Keyamo, lawmaker Abdulmumin Jibrin, Lere Olayinka, a media aide to Wike, and Segun Sowunmi. Dele Alake will retain his position as campaign council spokesman, while Obafemi George has been assigned an advisory role on media.
In another significant appointment, businessman Ayiri Emami has been named Director of Special Duties, while Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, a prominent political figure associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been included among the campaign council’s advisers.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will continue as Secretary of the council, with APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru serving as Deputy Secretary and Hadiza Bala-Usman as Assistant Secretary.
James Faleke will also retain responsibility for election planning, coordination and monitoring as Deputy Director-General.
The revised composition, as outlined in the list sighted by Oxford Reporters, suggests an effort to refresh the campaign council’s membership, expand its network of political allies and create room for additional loyalists across the states.
The inclusion of individuals from different political backgrounds and professional sectors also points to a broader mobilisation strategy intended to consolidate existing support, attract new political partners and strengthen the party’s campaign organisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
However, the effectiveness of the reorganisation will ultimately depend on how well the campaign council translates its expanded membership into grassroots engagement, stronger party cohesion and electoral support across the country.
