LAFIA — Nasarawa State Governor and Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has fulfilled his ₦44 million pledge to outstanding graduates of the institution, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and human capital development.

Governor Sule redeemed the pledge at a presentation ceremony held at the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education in Lafia on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The pledge, announced during the university’s 8th Combined Convocation and 25th Silver Jubilee celebrations, provides ₦500,000 each to 82 first-class graduates, while the three overall best graduating students are to receive ₦1 million each.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, at the ceremony, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Linkages, Prof. K’tso Nghargbu, expressed appreciation to Governor Sule for fulfilling his promise.

She described the gesture as a demonstration of the governor’s generosity and continued support for the university, saying it would motivate students to pursue excellence and distinguish themselves through hard work and dedication.

According to her, rewarding outstanding academic performance in such a tangible manner sends a strong message to the university community that merit, discipline and excellence are recognised and valued.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended Governor Sule’s commitment to the development of education in Nasarawa State, noting that his interventions continue to strengthen the partnership between the state government and the university.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D.W. Mamman, and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Khadijat Musa Suleiman, commended the governor for the initiative and congratulated the beneficiaries on their academic achievements.

The university delegation at the event included the Registrar and the Bursar, who joined the Vice-Chancellor’s representative in witnessing the fulfilment of the pledge.

The payment, according to the university’s Information and Protocol Unit, further underscores the Nasarawa State Government’s commitment to rewarding merit, encouraging students to excel academically and supporting the development of education and human capital across the state.
