Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto, on his emergence as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election.
Fayemi conveyed his congratulatory message when he paid a courtesy visit to Senator Yari at his residence in Maitama District, Abuja, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The visit, according to a statement issued by Al’mansur Gusau, Director-General, Media, Office of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, was aimed at congratulating the former Zamfara State Governor on his appointment and wishing him success in the important political assignment.
Yari’s emergence as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council is expected to place him at the forefront of the party’s mobilisation, coordination and campaign efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
During the meeting, Fayemi acknowledged the significance of the responsibility entrusted to Yari and expressed confidence in his political experience and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the APC’s campaign efforts.
The former Ekiti governor’s visit also highlighted the growing engagements among senior figures within the ruling party as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Senator Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara State and former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has remained an influential figure within the APC, with extensive political experience at both state and national levels.
The meeting between the two political leaders is expected to further strengthen consultations and cooperation among stakeholders as the APC prepares for the forthcoming presidential contest.
